Cape Fear (June 5, Apple TV Plus)

If this series sounds familiar, that’s because it is: it’s based on the classic 1991 film — itself based on a 1962 movie of the same name — from director Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg. They’re both returning as executive producers on this 10-episode adaptation, which boasts a killer cast including Javier Bardem as Max Cady (the role played by Robert De Niro in the 1991 film) and Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as Anna and Tom Bowden. This high-stakes psychological thriller is getting us excited — that trailer! It’s shaping up to be a wild ride.

The ABC is kicking goals with its local comedy slate this year and this new series, starring Sam Pang, is the latest to hit screens. Pang plays AFL administrator Hugh Shen, who’s been sent from Melbourne to establish Tasmania’s first AFL club. “There’s a divided public to win over, oppressive deadlines to meet, feisty protesters to handle and inoffensive mascots to employ,” an official synopsis reads — sign us up! It boasts a great supporting cast, including Emma Harvie, Lucy Durack and Marg Downey.

Every Year After (June 10, Prime Video)

If you’re loving Off Campus and counting down the days until The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, you’ll want to pop this one on your watch list. It’s based on Carley Fortune’s blockbuster novel Every Summer After, and centres on the relationship between Persephone “Percy” Fraser and Sam Florek over six years “and one pivotal week” in the picturesque lakeside town of Barry’s Bay. This “BookTok to TV” series already has a ready-made fan base who are eagerly awaiting its debut.

Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness (June 27, HBO Max)

Wait, what on EARTH does Barack Obama have to do with comedian Larry David’s latest TV project? A lot, as it happens: he’s the producer of this seven-episode historical sketch comedy series, along with wife Michelle. “President and Mrs Obama wanted to honour America’s 250th anniversary, and celebrate its unique history on this special occasion . . . but then Larry David called,” jokes an official synopsis — ha! This sounds unhinged, and we are totally there for it.

This four-part Netflix doco boasts unprecedented access to Rafa, “revealing not only the moments that defined his career, but also the unseen effort that sustained a champion for more than two decades”.
