‘Bogan fried chicken’: TikTok star Russ Eats review Hungry Jack’s new saucy tenders range

Self-declared bogan food reviewer and TikTok star Russ Eats has given his thumbs up to Hungry Jack’s new saucy tenders range.

The iconic low-cost fast-food outlet has stormed the TV airways in the past few days to spruik its new fried chicken tenders, which come with Korean BBQ, spicy mango habanero and lemon pepper sauces.

“I’m going to call this bogan fried chicken,” Russ Eats says in his review, which has already garnered some 200,000 views.

“I’ve put my balls on the line here, I’ve been very critical of HJ chicken and they were scared to reach out to me.

“I thought they hated me, but we’re both putting our balls on the line here.”

But one by one, he approves of each of the sauces, starting off with Korean BBQ.

“Yeah, that is mad,” he says.

“Exactly what you think it would taste like. Like a tangy Korean sauce. A bit garlicky. I should have used the bib because I’m getting a bit saucy.”

On spicy mango habanero, he says: “Awesome sweet mango flavour upfront and then a building habanero flavour and heat in the background, but not too hot.”

Altogether, he says the offerings will “save you a trip to Kings Cross Sydney, that’s all I’m going to say”.

The TikToker, from Newcastle, regularly posts earnest reviews of fast-food and junk-food items.

His reviews are infused with colourful language and a bogan-esque inflection.

The saucy tenders call has already sparked interest from his followers.

“Just went and got this because of you we don’t usually eat their food but these are good,” one said.

“Alright I gotta try these bad boys,” another commented.
