Katy Perry admits she’s taken after kissing former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau on a yacht
Katy Perry has finally broken her silence on her relationship with Justin Trudeau, playfully addressing the topic during her London concert on Monday night.
Currently performing on her Lifetimes world tour, the pop star took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena, teasing the crowd with a quick-witted comment that had fans cheering.
Addressing the audience, she quipped: “London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?,” she said.
“No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore.”
The 40-year-old singer also found herself on the receiving end of a surprise marriage proposal from a fan, which she gently declined, laughing: “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago,” according to The Sun.
Her comments come just days after photos showed Perry sharing a kiss with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau aboard her 78ft yacht, the Caravelle, off Santa Barbara.
In the pictures, a shirtless Trudeau could be seen with his hand on the star’s bottom as the new couple enjoyed some private time at sea.
Sources told The Sun that the pair have been secretly dating since early summer. “They haven’t been able to spend a lot of time together as she’s on tour, but they’re constantly in contact — always FaceTiming and messaging each other,” an insider said.
Rumours of the romance first surfaced in July when the two were spotted dining at upscale Montreal restaurant Le Violon, just a month after Katy confirmed her split from British actor Orlando Bloom.
The insider added: “He’s a bit of a geek and can’t believe someone as famous and glamorous as Katy is interested in him, whereas she’s flattered such a respected politician wants to date her.”
Katy and Orlando, who are parents to five-year-old Daisy Dove, announced their separation in June, five months after an earlier split in January.
The couple, who had been engaged since 2019, said in a joint statement they “have been shifting their relationship to focus on co-parenting.”
Mr Trudeau finalised his divorce in 2023 and stepped down as Prime Minister earlier this year. Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand until 2011.
