STM Loves: Supper Club, Melville Summer Music, Fremantle Biennale and The Chevelles

Fremantle Spring Fashion
The Fremantle Markets is hosting its first large-scale fashion showcase this Saturday in the Henderson Mall, with a runway featuring established and emerging local designers at 2pm. The event in the Victorian open-air building welcomes all to attend, for free, and celebrate our local creative community. Designs will remain on display throughout November. “Fremantle is the perfect setting for this kind of event. It’s creative, it’s community driven, and it’s full of character,” says event producer Tricia Ray.

Supper Club
Busselton welcomes Supper Club this spring and summer: an intimate, 30-seat experience to open inside the former South West Wine Shop every Friday and Saturday night. Guests can expect chef residencies — beginning with UK chef Oliver Brown in November and celebrated sustainable chef Matt Stone in February — seasonal menus and exclusive events fronted by chef Brendan Pratt and sous chef Tai Yokoyama. “The fluid nature of Supper Club also opens the door for collaboration,” says Pratt. “We’ll be cooking alongside some of Australia’s best talent — from chefs to sommeliers, bartenders and winemakers — and even exploring creative pairings with artists and musicians.” More details and bookings can be made at busseltonpavilion.com.au/supper-club

The Chevelles
You can’t fault the staying power of this surf/punk/garage band, who will celebrate 35 years of music with a special show at Mojos Bar on November 14. The Chevelles were born from the ashes of some of Perth’s best bands of the late 1980s, and have toured overseas, been on high radio rotation and played huge international festivals. Tickets from moshtix.com.au.

Melville Summer Music
The City of Melville has kicked off its much-loved Melville Summer Music series this weekend, which is running until March 2026. The free and family-friendly concert series has a vibrant program of 10 live music sessions ranging from blues to alt-country. There will also be food trucks so there’s no need to stress about sorting a snack pack. To view the full program, visit melvillecity.com.au/melvillesummermusic.

Fremantle Biennale
Taking place over three weekends, the Fremantle Biennale contemporary art festival will transform Walyalup into a canvas of creativity with large-scale public art installations, live music and contemporary dance performances. To view the full program, which begins on November 13, visit www.visitfremantle.com.au.

Fairview Festival of Flowers
The beautiful garden, stunning stained glass and significant collection of women’s art at Subiaco heritage mansion Fairview are at the centre of the first staging of this festival. Art collector, heritage enthusiast and owner Thomas Murrell will conduct four midday tours of the property, starting on World Kindness Day on November 13 and running until November 16. Numbers are limited; tickets from fairviewartwe.eventbrite.com.au.
