A man has been charged after 200 plastic tubs of magic mushrooms were discovered during police raids.

Police located the tubs of hallucinogenic mushrooms – other wise known as psilocybin – at two properties in Logan, Queensland during searches on Thursday.

The magic mushrooms – as well as a large quantity of dried mushrooms – were found at a property in Marsden.

The rooms had allegedly been converted to cater for the various stages of a commercial production operation.

Specialist officers from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit attended the location to remove the items.

A 31-year-old man from NSW has been charged with one count each of production and possession of a dangerous drug, possession of anything used in the commission of crime, possession of the proceeds of crime and the contravention of a Magistrates Order.

Detective Inspector Craig Bowman said the investigations reflect police’s ongoing commitment to disrupting criminal activity in Queensland.

“These criminal syndicates have no regard for the wider harm illicit drugs cause to the community. They are motivated by profit, which is often used to fund further criminal activity,” he said.
