Behaviour and parenting specialists Behaviour Tonics are bringing two free parenting workshops to Albany next week, aimed at teaching local dads how to build stronger relationships with their children.

The workshops, called Fathering Today and run by Behaviour Tonics co-founder Brad Williams, aim to teach dads strategies for dealing with difficult parenting situations, build stronger connections with their children, and tackle the challenges of modern parenting.

Mr Williams is himself a dad to two boys and has a background in child and adolescent mental health.

He said he tries to keep his presentations both informative and entertaining.

He said many dads want to build strong, positive relationships with their children but don’t know the practical strategies that can help them navigate tricky situations such as behavioural challenges and difficulty communicating.

The Fathering Today workshops will provide practical strategies to help dads encourage positive behaviour, respond calmly and confidently to challenges, support their children’s emotional well-being, and generally create a more positive family environment.

The workshops use real-life examples of situations parents face every day, and give attendees tools they can start implementing in their own households.

Behaviour Tonics have partnered with Uplyft Albany to deliver the workshops and while they are free, places are limited and attendees must register online through the Behaviour Tonics website.

The first will be on September 9 at the Mt Lockyer Child and Parent Centre from 6.15pm to 8.15pm, and the second will be held at the Albany PCYC on September 10 from 6.15pm to 8.15pm.
