Albany’s Youth Week Celebrations are set to deliver high-energy fun from skating to colour runs this weekend

From skating tricks to colour-splashed obstacle runs, Albany’s Youth Week celebrations are set to deliver high-energy fun this weekend. A line-up of activities will take place on Satuday near the PCYC, as part of Youth Week WA, the State’s largest annual celebration of young people aged 10 to 25. This year’s theme, “Strength in our Stories”, shines a spotlight on the diverse experiences of young people and how their voices, backgrounds and ideas help shape communities and inspire change. In Albany, the program is packed with events designed to showcase local talent and bring young people together. The Youth Festival Skatepark Competition will kick off at 10am at the Youth Challenge Park, with skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter competitors battling it out across disciplines. The competition will feature prizes for the top performers. At 11am, the youth markets will commence at the Youth Challenge Park courts, giving young creatives the chance to sell handmade goods, artwork, baked treats and other items. The festivities will continue with the Youth Fest Colour Run on the multi-use oval. Participants will navigate a fun obstacle course including hay bales, tyres, cargo nets and more all while being splashed with water and bursts of coloured powder. Entry to the colour run is $15 with participants receiving a white T-shirt and glasses. The events offer a vibrant celebration of Albany’s younger population and are expected to draw strong crowds.
