Autumn Produce Show a popular affair and fundraiser for Lower King Progress Association

The Lower King Progress Association celebrated a successful Autumn Produce Show at the weekend with more than 120 entries across 41 seniors and junior classes. Gomm Park Croquet Club played host to the show, with everything from jams and pickles through to flowers and baked goods being judged against one another. Jenny Rickerby’s flower display was awarded most outstanding exhibition in the show, while Ivy Guilfoyle’s tasty chocolate cake was awarded most outstanding junior exhibit. Competitors and onlookers indulged in some of the culinary delights during morning and afternoon tea and lunch. Patrons could have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels tested by Dr Carole Tainsh, who donated her time during the event to perform the free service. Raffles to win a donated quilt or a load of firewood proved a popular fundraiser for the LKPA and Ms Rickerby was all too happy to entice people with a game of pickleball, while others headed to the manicured courts for a game or two of croquet.
