Emu Point Bowling Club will host an exciting qualifying round of the Bowls Premier League Cup on Saturday.

A total of 10 teams are set to hit the greens for the qualifying round and look to book their place in the regional final.

The league provides an opportunity for club-based teams to progress through the ranks in a bid to reach the national finals, held at Brisbane’s Club Pine Rivers on November 8-12.

Women’s and men’s teams of three or four players are eligible to play.

Two sets of five ends will be played with a tie-breaker if ends are evenly split. Emu Point will be the first regional club to host a qualifying round this year with rounds previously held in Joondalup on April 17 and South Perth on May 23 already.

Cranbrook were set to host a round two weeks ago but rain cancelled the event and Albany Bowling Club will host a round next weekend. Teams can progress from the local qualifiers up to the regional level and then onto the State and national finals.

The 16 national BPL Cup finalist teams receive an all expenses paid trip to compete in the BPL Cup National Finals, with the final broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.

Over the past eight years, Bowls Australia has successfully staged 13 BPL events.

In 2014, BA also launched a new national participation initiative, Jack Attack, which is played at over 230 venues.

The BPL Cup joins the two products to strengthen the correlation between the bowls that viewers see on television and the format of bowls offered at clubs.

The event starts at 10.30am on Saturday at Emu Point Bowling Club.
