Great Southern duo Talon Delacey and Anthony Davis produce big games in Claremont’s elimination final victory

Great Southern duo Talon Delacey and Anthony Davis helped Claremont advance to a WAFL semifinal after their 12-point win against East Perth on Sunday.

Both players were named in the Tigers’ best players as a two-goal final quarter helped guide them to a pulsating elimination final win at Leederville Oval.

Borden product Davis gathered 15 touches to go with eight marks, three tackles and five inside-50s in the 11.6 (72) to 9.6 (60) victory.

North Albany’s Delacey booted two goals, had nine possessions and three marks as the Tigers booked their spot against Subiaco in this Sunday’s first semifinal.

Albany’s Kieran Gowdie also finished with five disposals, 18 hit-outs and one goal.

Tigers’ captain and North Albany junior Declan Mountford remains out with an injury he picked up in their round 19 clash against Swan Districts.

Mountford, 26, returned from a rib issue but it was a short-lived appearance, coming off in the opening minute due to a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, Railways product Jacob Blight helped Peel Thunder to a 12.12 (84) to 10.14 (74) victory over the Lions in Saturday’s qualifying final.

The 21-year-old forward had 12 touches, three marks and two tackles and his team move into the second semifinal this Saturday with a grand final berth up for grabs.

Ryley Valli kicked the match-sealer as the Tigers prevailed by 13 points over East Fremantle in the WAFL colts elimination final on Sunday.

Valli, who played with Railways and Royals, marked in the forward pocket before going back and converting the final score of the contest to ensure his side advanced to this Sunday’s second semifinal against Perth.

The 19-year-old gathered 12 disposals, three marks, two tackles and a goal in the 8.7 (55) to 6.6 (42) result.

The Tigers were bundled out of the WAFL reserves competition after a 13-point loss to East Fremantle in the elimination final.

Railways junior Bailey Bennett had 15 touches and four tackles, North Albany pair Heath Ravenhill (nine disposals, two tackles), Rhori Williams-Jolley (six disposals, three inside-50s) and ex-Railways forward Coen Jackman (one goal, six disposals) also featured in the 10.3 (63) to 11.10 (76) defeat.
