IN PICTURES: Colour and fun at Pride Fair Day in town square as muster dog Blossom watches pooches on parade

The weather didn’t really play ball but there was still plenty of colour at the Pride Fair Day in the Albany town square on Saturday. There were stalls staffed by people offering support and advice, food wagons doing a good trade and DJ Her Highness made sure everyone could dance along. The highlight of the afternoon, of course, was the dog show which gave owners the chance to parade their pooches on the not-aptly named catwalk. Crufts it was not, but the dogs were all well-behaved and the cute quotient went up a notch when the likes of Blue, Buffy and Moet took to the stage. Judging the categories, which included most stylish and best trick, were a trio of non-experts, plus Courtney Moir who came in tandem with muster dog Blossom. The pair, from Wellstead, are the stars of season four of Muster Dogs, with the show following Blossom being trained to herd sheep and how working with dogs has helped Ms Moir come to terms with leaving a town life for the country. Ms Moir was joined by Salem Blackwood, Cr Lynn MacLaren and Albany headspace manager Andrew Wenzel in making the day’s biggest decisions. Blossom must surely have thought Blue the schnauzer deserved an award but her human judges picked Moet, who came with owner Anna-Maria Britto, as most stylish while Russell, who came with Penny Waters, 9, performed the best trick.
