Albany police suspend search efforts for missing 24-year-old Indian national Parbhat last seen at the Gap

Albany police have suspended their search for missing 24-year-old Parbhat, who was last seen last week at The Gap in Torndirrup National Park. Sgt Vaughan MacKay said police had “exhausted” air, land, and sea search efforts to find Parbhat, and suspended their search on Thursday afternoon. “The investigating aspect is still ongoing and that will be ongoing for quite some time in relation to his movements prior to attending the Gap,” he said. “We’re still seeking any information from the public, as well as those who may have either had a sighting or interaction with Parbhat, just to come forward please and provide what information they can. “We’re very much trying to determine his movements in Albany, and anywhere else he may have been, to timeline his movements.” Sgt MacKay said search efforts were concentrated in the immediate area around the Gap as that was where Parbhat’s car was found, but they would not discount other information on his movements. “The search efforts, at this stage, have been suspended pending any further evidence coming forward which may instigate other search mechanisms being undertaken, but at this stage, we have exhausted that immediate search,” he said. The 24-year-old Indian national was seen at the carpark of the popular tourist lookout about 4pm on August 5, with witnesses reporting he was visibly upset and refusing to talk. He is believed to have been in the Albany area since July 27 and is described as olive-skinned with dark hair and a beard. Parbhat was last seen wearing a dark tracksuit and a dark woollen jumper. Members of the public reported his unattended vehicle to police on August 6, sparking a search for the driver that continued the next day, with 12 State Emergency Service personnel battling rain and wind to find him. The Gap is a popular tourist lookout and has an abundance of signs warning visitors of rough weather and to stay on the path.
