Margaret River Pro Trials field is set with local talent ready to put on a show before the main event

The next generation of West Australian surfers are getting their shot to join the big time at the Relationships Australia Margaret River Pro Trials on Friday at Surfers Point. The trials are a staple of the event, offering local surfers a coveted wildcard entry into the main draw of the Championship Tour. It’s a rare and powerful opportunity for surfers to go from familiar waters to sharing the stage with the world’s elite, all in front of a passionate home crowd. Surfing WA chief operations officer Matt Wilson said the event gave surfers the chance break through and stand shoulder to shoulder with the sport’s elite. “Western Australia has an incredible depth of surfing talent, and this pathway ensures our surfers have genuine opportunities to progress from local competition right through to the Championship Tour.” Surfers were selected based on their outstanding performances over the past 12 months, across the WSL World Qualifying Series, State titles, specialty events and nominations from local boardriders clubs.
