Margaret River’s main street redevelopment is copping some negative publicity from Perth visitors.

One aggrieved tourist recently aired his criticism of the project in a widely-read piece in the Post newspapers last week.

Shenton Park resident Martin Doogue warned fellow travellers about the redevelopment construction, which is on track to finish before Christmas.

“The work has been going on for months, is extremely slow, and will continue for many more months,” Mr Doogue wrote. “The council needs to take action because this is a terrible look for tourism in Margaret River.”

Mr Doogue also questioned the efficiency of the workers and — without citing evidence — said restaurant and cafe prices were “double” Perth costs.
