Broome kids are back at school

Students across Broome returned to classrooms on February 2, marking the first day of the 2026 school year after the holiday break.
At Broome North Primary School, children arrived eager and smiling as teachers welcomed families back for the new term.
St Mary’s College commenced the year with two Smoking and Blessing ceremonies held across its primary and secondary campuses, led by Aunty Di Appleby alongside Father Liam and Father Brian.
The ceremonies combined the ancient First Nations practice of Smoking with the Catholic tradition of blessing with holy water, reflecting the college’s strong commitment to culture, faith and community as students begin the year ahead.
Broome Primary welcomed its kindergarten kids with a colourful playtime.
