Broome Touch Association’s second season of 2020 is already producing a tight competition, with a division one match-up ending in a tie.

Roey Roosters went up against newcomers Fyre last Thursday night in cool conditions at Father McMahon Oval.

It was an even start to the match as both teams were quick to put the pressure on each other from the outset until Fyre’s Liam Bedford broke through to speed towards the try line.

As the Roosters tried stepping up in defence, Bedford managed to speed off again to score a second try for his team.

However, after a bit of back-and-forth, Roosters’ Mitch Huntley put his team on the scoreboard before the contest entered a stalemate.

Two tries from Darcy Thorn saw the Roosters take the lead from Fyre, who responded by levelling the score with a try from Jacob Predo.

A late try from Huntley sent the Roosters into the half-time break with just one try separating them from Fyre.

In the second half, both teams look determined to shut the other down wherever possible.

Bedford levelled the scores again with a third try, only for Roosters’ Jamie Harvey to quickly respond with one of his own. The teams matched each other try for try, making for a close contest.

Fyre managed to slightly pull away with tries from Bedford and David Goodwin, which seemed to light a fire within the Roosters to fight back.

Late tries from Perrine Breheret and Hayden Mackenzie saw the match end in a 8-8 draw.
