$15 million state-of-the-art classroom block opened in Australind Senior High School

Australind Senior High School students will be able to enjoy a brand new classroom block after it was officially opened by State Minister for Education Tony Buti. The two-storey building features a STEM room, an art studio, two science labs, an inclusive life skills room and a conference room for senior students along with 10 general classrooms. Australind SHS principal Domenic Camera said the new facility would be important for the school to be able to keep up with increased enrolments. “The kids actually love it and are quite engaged with the fact that they’ve got some really world-class facilities to learn and be part of,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of enrolment pressure for a long time. “We still run top end ATAR programs, the full suite and we have got a large cohort and we’ll continue to do that so it’s really important that we have quality facilities.” Mr Buti said the school facilities would likely make a difference for both students and staff. “It’s absolutely beautiful, it’s really just complemented the vision of the school to ensure that they had state-of-the-art facilities,” he said. “It’s also a place for the students to come and for the year 11 and 12 students to come and enjoy each other’s company. “For the teachers, state-of-the-art facilities ensure that they have a great workplace to come to work.”
