Art and science to combine in Shire of Capel’s Fact or Faction Festival

Art, culture and science are set to combine in the return of the Shire of Capel’s Fact or Faction festival. Fact or Faction 2021 is a week-long festival that will bring together authors, guest speakers and unique experiences, set to take place from August 16-22 at the Capel Golf Club. In its third year since its inception, Fact or Faction has been a catalyst for collaboration between the Shire of Capel and the South West region, providing plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to engage in a wide range of talks, interactive workshops and displays. Attendees will be able to explore the world of marine culture in the Geographe Bay region, learn from those who break down the barriers behind social and cultural inclusion, and celebrate Boyanup’s local history. Guest speakers include award-winning marine biologist Aisling Fontanini, underwater photographer Kathleen Thompson, 30 Foot Drop managing director Ben Aldridge, freelance producer Caitlin Lomax, surfer and bull rider Sullivan McLeod and Boyanup Post founder Julian Sanders OAM. Capel Shire president Michael Southwell said the council recognised the importance of growing community events and providing opportunities for collaboration and engagement with the community to support local tourism and work towards a sustainable future. “I encourage the community to check out this amazing line-up of events and register,” he said. “Limited ticketing is available and we don’t want our community to miss out.”
