BDCA 2022/23: Colts’ Caillin Blackwood dominates with 119-run haul against Dalyellup in minor grade match
From centuries to massive wicket hauls, there was plenty of action throughout the Bunbury and Greater Bunbury regions during the seventh round of the 2022-23 Bunbury & Districts Cricket Association season.
In the second grade competition, Colts’ Caillin Blackwood dominated the field to help record a victory over Dalyellup in less than 18 overs.
Despite no Dalyellup batters managing more than 30 runs individually, they made a solid lead after they were all out for 155 in under 43 overs and managed an early wicket in catching Ashton Goodwin out for a duck with the first ball.
However, once Blackwood got going for Colts, there was no stopping him.
Blackwood smashed 119 runs off 55 balls to help Colts surpass Dalyellup on 2-157 in under 18 overs.
Elsewhere, Harvey-Benger maintained their strong form with a win over Hay Park 4-134 to all out for 132 to remain on top of the ladder, Leschenault defeated Eaton 5-213 to 9-210, and Marist beat Burekup 10-206 to 10-95.
In the third grade competition, Rising Stars defeated Collie 3-140 to 10-136, Colts were victorious over Dalyellup via forfeit, Capel defeated Leschenault 10-158 to 10-125 and Donnybrook rolled Marist 7-249 to 10-99.
In the fourth grade competition, Harvey-Benger defeated Hay Park 4-105 to 10-104, Colts beat Dalyellup 6-139 to 10-138, Leschenault defeated Eaton 5-92 to 10-91 and Marist beat Dardanup 5-138 to 10-134.
In the fifth grade competition, Thinesh Theivendran helped Rising Stars knock off Hay Park 9-255 to 10-186.
Theivendran hit 133 runs off 114 balls, including 15 fours and four sixes, in a dominant effort until he was stumped by Aaron Worlley in one of Aaron Andrews’ three wickets of the day.
Theivendran showed his versatility by taking 3-16 as one of Rising Stars’ seven bowlers for the match.
Elsewhere, Dalyellup defeated Colts 292 to 10-91 with Leighton Wynwood taking a game-high four wickets for the match, Marist defeated Burekup 6-138 to 8-134, while Eaton had the bye.
