Leschenault have continued their strong form, recording their fourth win of the season by dispatching Marist by 99 runs.

The Green Caps hosted Marist during the fifth round of the Bunbury & Districts Cricket Association’s 2022/23 season at the Leschenault Recreation Park on Saturday.

While Jamie Harrison managed an impressive start, hitting several fours during the opening over, Marist were on a mission to get batsman Steve Denison out early following his record-breaking efforts against Dalyellup from round four.

Cooper Dehring caught Denison out for just two in the second over, shutting down hopes of Denison producing another dominant performance.

Despite the shock early exit and Tyne Dodds and Nico Le Roux also being caught by Haydn Slodecki, Harrison continued making big hits, smashing six fours and two sixes until he was run out for 63 in the 25th over off of Michael Chappell’s first ball.

It was not until within the last 10 overs that Marist began picking up late wickets, with Leschenault finishing all out for 182.

Jack Wilson took three wickets, Michael Chappell and Cory Fitt two each and Dehring took three catches.

Despite some early fours from Shawn Gillies helping Marist get off to a solid start following the change, it did not take long for wickets to start falling for Leschenault.

Gillies was the first casualty, caught by Thomas Buchanan for eight during the third over.

Dehring, who attempted a high-risk approach with plenty of big swings, followed being caught for 11 and then Slodecki (8) was caught.

Marist seemed to hit a lull in getting runs on the board with big hits coming few and far between, with only Joshua Bradbury hitting a six and Kyle Davis hitting a four.

As wickets continued to fall for Leschenault, it ultimately took the Green Caps fewer than 29 overs to roll Marist for 83 to seal the win.

Shehzad Gondal picked up three wickets, while Jacob Templeton and Oliver Currill took two each.

Elsewhere, Eaton defeated Collie 4-218 to 6-180, Colts edged out Hay Park 5-219 to 7-215 in a tight contest, and Donnybrook (229 all out) continued their undefeated streak, beating Dalyellup 9-202.
