BDCA 2023: Dalyellup impress on road against Eaton, Colts make light work of Hay Park

Heading into Saturday’s Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association first-grade clash at the Eaton Sports Ground, Eaton’s selected team looked extremely potent. With the inclusion of Bobtails stalwart Clayton Caltsounis and Vinniee Poller, the home side looked to have added valuable firepower against an improving Dalyellup, who were riding high following a gripping four-run win over Colts a week earlier. However, the visitors, who cruised to victory by seven wickets after chasing 172, showed once again they are genuine finals contenders. It was a frustrating afternoon for the Bobtails in the field, who tried everything to slow the visitors’ roll — even using eight different bowlers. A solid 88-run opening stand between Bradman May and Mitchell Boyle set the visitors on their way to victory, with talented teenager Cody Ryan (33 off 40 balls) also extending his run of stellar performances against the Bobtails. In the remaining game of the round, Colts thrashed Hay Park by 10 wickets, rolling the Redbacks for 97, with Tim Hutchison (6-17 off nine overs) the chief destroyer.
