Dalyellup extended their stay on top of the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association’s first-grade table after Saturday’s 66-run win over bottom-placed Hay Park at Dalyellup College.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the home side made 189 off 48 overs with Bradman May topscoring with 72 off 115 balls.

In reply, the Redbacks were dismissed for 123 at the end of the 38th over, however, they did fight back considerably — having collapsed to 6-43 midway during their run chase.

In pleasant conditions, Dalyellup hit a few speed bumps early, falling to 3-37 before composure at the crease from May and youngster Cody Ryan (37 off 62 balls) helped get them back on track.

Committed bowling from the Redbacks ensured the home side had a reachable target of 190 for victory.

Hay Park slumped to 3-26 and 6-43, with another convincing defeat appearing likely. However, excellent rearguard batting from Thomas Sletten (41 off 65 balls) and Joe Williams (28 off 17 balls) ensured the home side didn’t have everything their own way during the dying stages.

The league leaders will head up the hill on Saturday to face Collie at Roche Park, while Hay Park entertain Marist at home.
