BDCA T20: Faith in youth pays off for Eaton Bobtails in impressive showing against Leschenault

A committed approach to young players again paid off for Eaton, after they defeated Leschenault by five wickets in Saturday’s T20 contest at the Eaton Sports Ground.
Bobtails skipper Liam Renton had no hesitations in unleashing Jack Vitali (3-21 off four overs) and Riley Stenhouse (1-22 off four overs) into the fray, and he looked on with pride in the deep as both players received reward for their efforts.
On top of the home and away ladder before Christmas, Leschenault opened their T20 competition campaign with a solid win over the Rising Stars on January 7, however they were somewhat off the pace throughout against the Bobtails.
Chasing 101 for victory, Eaton openers Jake Rudd and Ben Simpson wasted little time in getting comfortable, belting 42 runs in the first four overs of the run chase.
A short time later, Simpson departed after lobbing a delivery into the arms of Jamie Harrison, however the result of the contest was seemingly a foregone conclusion by then.
At Forrest Park, the return of valuable all-rounder Brayden Clarke provided a spark for Marist, who easily defeated Donnybrook by eight wickets, after being set 118 for victory.
In other matches, Hay Park edged out the Rising Stars by seven runs, while Colts easily took care of second grade outfit Harvey-Benger to win by six wickets.
