With Mother’s Day just around the corner, Bunbury retailers have been hard at work getting ready for one of their busiest times of the year, celebrating family matriarchs.

For cupcake store Guardians of Happiness, they are hoping to go bigger and better with a number of specialty creations on offer for Mother’s Day, as well as cake decorating classes for children who want to put a personal touch on their gifts.

Store owner Natalie Moremon said Guardians of Happiness was putting on two specials for Mother’s Day as something different this year.

“We’ve already got about 40 pre-orders so we’re definitely keeping busy in the lead-up to Mother’s Day,” she said.

“Pre-COVID, a lot of people would take their mothers out somewhere nice and get some flowers, so when we were delivering Mother’s Day cupcakes for the first time last year during lockdown, it was insane.

“This year we decided to do it again ... because it was so successful despite having to overcome quite a few obstacles to make it happen, but we wanted to make sure mothers still got spoilt on their special day.”

Celebrity florist Matthew Landers also launched a Mother’s Day floral collection “fit for the modern matriarch” just weeks after opening his first regional store in Bunbury.

The Matriarch collection features a series of eight curated bouquets featuring seasonal native flowers to support local farmers.

Mr Landers said the collection was sure not only to put a smile on any mother’s face but to show support for local business owners, farmers and communities that had been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and extreme weather events.

“Matriarch showcases what is growing in our State right now, and we’re proud to be doing our part to support the industry and acknowledge our fabulous female family leaders,” he said.

Other stores like Florist Gump and Elle Hart Beauty have been hard at work offering Mother’s Day deals with bouquets, facials and massages on offer in their respective stores.
