Young business owners in the Greater Bunbury region are being invited to meet other up and coming entrepreneurs in a business event with a difference on Friday.

Cuprum Distillery is set to host a social sundowner for 18 to 40 year olds later this week as part of an initiative by the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Started by the Chamber earlier this year, the Young People in Business group has already held a number of events, allowing like-minded young people to come together for an informal-style networking opportunity.

Group chair Rhys Veen said the sundowners offered an alternative to the BGCCI’s Business After Hours sessions, which often attracted an older demographic.

“A lot of people have liked it being more of a casual kind of vibe,” he said.

“It’s the end of the week, it’s a casual drink and they get to know a few people around here as well.”

Mr Veen said the event also provided an alternative to sport as a networking opportunity..

“There are not many other business events out there and we thought this would be a good way to start,” he said.

A relaxed atmosphere is the aim of the game for Friday’s event, with a gin tasting, nibbles and a short talk from the Commonwealth Bank about business banking on offer.

Those who own or work in a business, aspire to be future leaders or want to take their next career step are invited to attend.

Friday’s event host and Cuprum Distillery spirit master Roby Binnie said engagement was a large part of the group’s goals.

“I think it’s just a great setting and if we do it right, it will feel like it’s a club and you will feel a part of something,” he said.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased through Eventbrite.
