Carey Park Primary School and Leschenault Catholic Primary School receive WasteSorted School Grants

Two Bunbury schools have received funding to help them avoid and recover waste. Carey Park Primary School and Leschenault Catholic Primary School have joined others across the State in sharing more than $113,000 of funding as part of the latest grant round of the WA Waste Authority’s WasteSorted School Grants program. The initiative provides funding for waste education and improving infrastructure to assist waste avoidance. Recipients are allowed to use the funding for a variety of purposes, including setting up recycling hubs, worm farms, bin systems and supporting waste-free canteen lunches. Environment Minister Reece Whitby highlighted the benefits of the grants. “This is a fantastic program that helps schools build infrastructure and implement initiatives that can avoid and recover waste while reducing costs. “We want to see everyone in Western Australia reducing, reusing, and recycling where possible, with schools set to play an important role in inspiring and educating kids to do exactly that.” A new funding round is currently open, and closes on August 6.
