Nathaniel “Cheeky” May was narrowly defeated by Bruno Tarimo on Friday night.

The ten round fight went the distance with judges John Cauchi (92-98), Mick Heafy (92-98) and Will Soulos (93-97) handing Tarimo a unaminous decision win.

Both fighters had their moments with May starting well and landing several significant strikes in the first round.

But Tarimo looked fitter and more composed getting on the front foot in the second round and dominating the next four rounds with assured and precise punch combinations.

Cheeky fought back hard and won the sixth and ninth rounds searching for a knockout late.

But Tarimo composed himself and wouldn’t be budged from the centre of the ring as the dogged fighter went on to win his fourth straight fight and third in a row on Australian soil.
