Community joins the party as Capel CWA celebrates 90th anniversary

The Country Women’s Association Capel branch celebrated its 90th anniversary on Saturday, with an open invitation to the community to join in the fun. Hundreds of community members turned up, with stalls, afternoon tea and a raffle draw keeping the fun going throughout the day. An official opening ceremony at the Capel Community Centre started the day off on the right foot and featured a cake cutting. Stalls run by community groups lined the hall, ranging from the region’s not-for-profits to national services. The CWA Capel branch was formed in 1934, 10 years after the CWA of WA was formed.
