Dancers embrace rain to celebrate Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever

The annual Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever had dozens turn out in red “Kate Bush” costumes on the Bunbury foreshore. The charity day at the Bunbury Rowing Club on Saturday drew a flash-mob style performance of the 70s hit Wuthering Heights to raise money for Solaris Cancer Care WA. Local Jonathan Fawcett found out about the event last year and has been hooked ever since. “I saw it a few years ago on Spicks and Specks and then it popped up in my Facebook feed a couple of years ago and I was like, ‘I’ll do that next year’ and so last year I did, and here we are again,” he said. Event organiser Suzanne Crews was thrilled with the turnout, with the crowd embracing the cold weather on the day. “I think it’s very dramatic.” she said. “Very misty moors. Very Wuthering.” Mrs Crews said the number of people coming to the event was increasing every year, with the group diversifying with each event. “We’ve got a real broad crowd here this year. There’s a few people in the crowd going, ‘oh there’s more boys than last time’. It’s more, you know, different,” Mrs Crews said. The event is a world-wide phenomena that caught on after a popular Brighton Fringe show turned into a yearly tradition, with major crowds gathering in the UK, Melbourne and Berlin.
