Donnybrook rolled to a convincing eight-wicket win over Dalyellup Beach in Saturday’s BDCA encounter at Dalyellup College.

After dismissing the Settlers for 113, the visitors faced minimal resistance during their run chase and reached their target inside 22 overs.

Despite the extreme heat, the home side won the toss and elected to bat, and held their own during the opening three overs.

Openers Lewis Homden and Keagan Lynch appeared to have played themselves in, with the runs ticking over. However, just as it looked like a big day for the Settlers, disaster struck, losing 3-5 in the blink of an eye.

Aside from Lynch and Jake Bennett’s gritty 45 off 87 deliveries, no other Settlers player reached double figures.

In reply, the visitors lost Bradman May at the end of the first over, but this was merely a small blot on their copybook, as Paul Reynolds and Shaun Towers made the most of their time at the crease.
