Easter is set to come early with the Dalyellup Collective ready to host a huge Twilight Easter Street Party

With the Easter Bunny only days away from visiting the South West, the Dalyellup community is set to host a huge Easter celebration with plenty of chocolate eggs on hand for an early sweet treat. The Dalyellup Twilight Easter Street Party is a free community event hosted by the Dalyellup Collective on Saturday, April 16, with a range of family-friendly events to keep the kids entertained this Easter weekend. Kicking off the second year of the event, the massive afternoon will feature unique and local actives, food trucks, market stalls and live music from local musicians including Rowyn Byrnes, Sophia Tomas, Maya Ixchell, Mitchell Martin & the Whisky Dogs. Free events throughout the day included Ping Pong Downhill races, Lego competitions, face painting, Chalk Art, table tennis and a professional circus lesson. John Bermingham from the Dalyellup Seasons Shed has also worked incredibly hard to make a colourful oversized beach chair, inspired by Lancelin’s Big Beach Chair, coloured in a rainbow fashion to support the youth LBGTQI+ community. Event co-ordinator Lisa O’Neill said the full-day community event has specifically been workshops by local kids to make it a family-fun party. “Regional Arts WA gave us a Y-Culture Drug Aware grant which some kids of Dalyellup helped put together and they came up with some really great things they wanted us to have at the event for kids to be able to do.” “These include watercolour workshops and pot plants creations, some amazing workshops by youth artists and a photography workshop where those photos will go towards the event photos afterwards.” Ms O’Neill said the festival is recommending families ride their bike into the “car free” event. “We are also closing off the street and trying to encourage people to ride to the event, and the Road Safety Commission have helped fund us and put together some bike maintenance workshops as well as have a fenced off area where kids and families can safely park their bikes. “The festival is also supporting the Bunbury BMX Club, and giving them a donation if they man the bikes at the Dalyellup Bike Valet Station” The Dalyellup Twilight Easter Street Party will be held on Saturday, April 16 at the Dalyellup Community Centre and Carpark, with events running from 3pm to 8pm. A gold coin donation is accepted as entry to the event.
