Friendship, love and saving a life are just some of the long list of benefits of fostering or adopting a pet, according to the Bunbury teams at Petstock and SAFE.

Adopting your next furry friend will be promoted throughout March as Petstock and SAFE join forces for National Pet Adoption Month.

On March 13, volunteers and animals from SAFE Bunbury and Greyhound Angels of WA will take over Bunbury Petstock as part of the seventh annual National Pet Adoption Day.

The day aims to help animals find new homes and share education and training tips for those looking to adopt, foster and become new pet owners.

SAFE Bunbury dog co-ordinator Mel Tarei said there were huge benefits to saving a life by fostering.

“For us as an organisation, we can temperament test the animals to see if they work well in a hope environment and get to know their character,” she said.

“Adopting a pet is also so amazing because animals almost seem to sense it’s been rescued.

You’re saving a life, and it helps to stop the promotion of backyard breeding.

“Once you meet them, you’ll fall in love,” she said.

“Petstock is a big advocate of rescuing animals.”
