Major Bunbury industrial projects have received a boost as part of the State Government’s $330 million investment for industry development work and projects.

The funding is intended to create jobs and drive industry opportunities in defence, port and harbour infrastructure.

Ports and harbours will benefit from $158.8 million for improvements, with Bunbury Port to receive $500,000 for a mandatory upgrade of the fire system at berth eight.

The port will also see $1 million go towards the installation of an additional truck unloading facility and a $1.5 million upgrade to the aged electrical substation asset, both at berth eight.

A feasibility study in relation to the upgrade and establishment of infrastructure at both Bunbury Port and the Kwinana Bulk Terminal was awarded $3.78 million to take place.

The Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area has also been allocated $7.5 million to help the estate provide serviced land for businesses supporting major projects.

Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said it was great to see support for major projects in the region.

At this time it’s critical that government support and encourage projects that create local jobs and boost our local economy.

Robyn Clarke

“Providing opportunity for business and development means local jobs, and this is what our community continues to support.”
