Community organisations are invited to apply for grants of up to $3000 to stage events during next year’s Youth Week. Grants of $1500 are available for smaller organisations to hold events, workshops and presentations, while grants of up to $3000 are available for community-wide events, such as festivals. Youth Week WA is an annual Statewide celebration that marks the positive contributions of young people. Earlier this year 40 community organisations and local governments across WA received grants to support events during Youth Week. Youth Minister Simone McGurk said these grants will help local communities create events the South West’s young people deserved. “The Youth Week Grants allow young people to take the lead in designing and building the activities and events that they want to see in their community,” she said. “It’s so heartening to see such a range of creative and impressive projects delivered by young people during Youth Week.” Applications close at 2:30pm on Friday, August 25, with recipients announced in January next year.
