From hard-fought victories to a last-minute chance to shine, the South West AFL products rose to the occasion during round two of the AFL season.

Neville Jetta, Ethan Hughes and Connor Blakely all got a taste of victory when they featured for the Demons and the Dockers in their respective wins.

Despite initial reports about Blakely being dropped from the Fremantle squad after a strong showing against Melbourne in round one, the Bunbury Football Club product was brought in as a medical sub.

While Fremantle cruised to a strong lead early in the contest against GWS on Sunday, a heavy hit against skipper Nat Fyfe gave Blakely the opportunity to shine during the final term.

Blakely applied plenty of pressure in the midfield, finishing with six pressure acts and a tackle to go with seven disposals, a clearance and four score involvements.

Meanwhile, Hughes was one of several ball magnets for the Dockers, finishing with 24 disposals — including 21 uncontested possessions.

Hughes also racked up six marks, a tackle, six score involvements and four pressure acts.
