Kylie Illis Roberts, 41, fined after drunken damage to property at College Grove home sparked by ongoing feud

A 41-year-old woman has been fined after smashing car and house windows at a College Grove home amid an ongoing feud between her daughter and the victim’s daughter. Kylie Illis Roberts appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday where she pleaded guilty to two charges of destruction of property. Police prosecutor Sgt Jane Gillham told the court at 1.30am on July 25, Roberts attended a College Grove home and knocked on the front door several times to discuss an incident, which occurred the previous day, with a resident at the house. After she and the resident talked through a locked door, Roberts then threw bottles at the rear window of a vehicle and the front window of the house which caused both of them to be smashed. Her defence lawyer told the court there had been issues between Roberts’ daughter and the victim’s daughter, which had included “threats of violence”. The defence said Roberts had been confronted at the South West Aboriginal Medical Service the previous day and that she had consumed alcohol at the address of a family member near the house. The defence accepted Roberts had instigated the late night incident and was “quite intoxicated”, with the court told she had self-referred to an alcohol support service provider. Magistrate Stephen Butcher said it was “disappointing” for Roberts to be back in front of the court after being out of trouble for nine years. “You know what you did is wrong and you accept that,” he said. Roberts was fined $600 for each of the offences alongside being ordered to pay court and compensation costs.
