Bunbury residents will have the chance to see West Australian fine art at the Art Extraordinaire event hosted by Bunbury Catholic College this weekend.

This year will be the 41st edition of the exhibition with works from the South West and around the State ranging from paintings and sculptures to jewellery and hats.

More than 100 artists will be featured, including Gelorup local Andrew Frazer.

Graduating from Bunbury Catholic College in 2002, Mr Frazer has recently established the ReDiscover Bunbury street art festival which has seen more than 30 street murals painted around the town.

He said his work on display looked at the connection between a sense of community and nature.

“I’m exploring the correlation between the surrounding bushland and how it has influenced our sense of home. It speaks to providing a healthy legacy for my boys and the environment they grow up in,” he said.

The exhibition will also act as a fundraiser for mental health programs Teen Mental Health First Aid and The Resilience Project.

Aside from an art show, there will be room for socialising on the opening night on Friday in an over-18 event starting at 7pm.

Some of the works will also be up for auction, allowing viewers to take home select works.

The Bunbury Art Extraordinaire will be held from October 13 to 15 at the Bunbury Catholic College Hall.
