Lotterywest funding helps Foodbank with two new cars
Foodbank WA has received a donation of $500,000 from major supporter Lotterywest, enabling the purchase of two new vehicles.
The two vehicles are expected to support the collection of an additional 80-110 tonnes of fresh produce from key growing regions in the Perth metropolitan area and Bunbury to support Foodbank’s food relief services for vulnerable communities across the State.
Foodbank WA CEO Kate O’Hara said the expansion would deliver significant cost-of-living relief to households, particularly in regional WA.
“We know that regional residents are one-third more likely to experience food insecurity than those in the metropolitan area, with the cost of a basic food basket up to 26 per cent higher in remote areas,” she said.
“This support is crucial in our mission to ensure that no Western Australian goes hungry.”
