NAB to give customers severely impacted by Bunbury tornado $1000 grants and additional support

The National Australia Bank has announced customers severely impacted by the Bunbury tornado earlier this month will be eligible for a $1000 grant and additional support. The fund is available to those whose homes or businesses suffered significant damage and is designed to help cover some of the cost of emergency expenses in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. NAB WA retail executive Libby Greenwood said the bank was looking out for its customers. “This will be a testing time for our communities and we’re standing by them, providing immediate assistance and making $1000 grants available to help those most affected,” she said. “NAB customers impacted in Bunbury are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible.” The funding comes in the wake of the May 10 tornado which damaged around 220 homes and left nine unlivable. It also left the PCYC building with significant damage, the Bunbury Regional Prison with two destroyed buildings and the Bunbury Hockey Stadium with damage to its turfs, fencing and scoreboard. Further support has been made available by the bank, including deferring payments on certain loans and credit card payments. Hardship support for customers struggling to make minimum payments on loans is also available. Some fees including merchant terminal fees and early access fees to term deposits could be waived or refunded as part of the relief package. Grants will remain open until June 6 and each application will be determined on a case-by-case basis by a member of NAB Assist. The support is not available for minor damage to homes or for damage to personal items and appliances, sheds, garages, gardens, or loss or damage to investment properties or holiday homes.
