NBL1 West: Joondalup Wolves women’s team put on offensive clinic over South West Slammers

The Joondalup Wolves women’s team rolled to an uncompromising 106-51 win over the South West Slammers on Saturday night at HBF Arena. Robyn Vogel took the reins in her first game as Slammers coach, however she and her players were powerless to stop one of the most fearsome offensive glass displays witnessed in the women’s competition over the past 12 months. Led superbly by Teige Morrell (22 points, 11 rebounds, four assists), the Wolf Pack racked up 63 rebounds — 22 of them offensive — which resulted in countless additional offensive possessions. When Morrell wasn’t claiming the keyway as her own, the Slammers defenders were at their wits’ end attempting to stop reliable shooter Robbi Ryan (20 points - 7/9 field goals, 2/4 beyond the arc) from bobbing up and hitting the scoreboard. A ray of light for the Slammers was the offensive output of American import Tylinn Carter, who top scored with 21 points, while Bree Chalk’s driving to the basket was also impressive.
