New virtual golf in Bunbury a real hole in one
Bunbury’s newest entertainment venue X-Golf is in full swing after its grand opening on May 18, with hundreds coming in to tee off on their virtual courses. X-Golf is a virtual golf course that uses state of the art technology to place you on hundreds of real-life golf courses, as well as fantasy ones closer to “playing putt at Disneyland”.
The venue offers golf lessons as well as a nation-wide league competition open to teams of two or three, with prizes for weekly winners.
Blair Keenan, who owns the venue alongside his brother Grant Keenan, says he’s been blown away by the response the town has had to the business since opening up.“It really struck me in the last couple of weeks that people in the South West are really appreciative of something of this scale and quality introduced into the town and region,” he said.
“Historically these types of things haven’t been put in regional centres, it’s more akin to something you’d see in Perth.”
The Bunbury location is only the third in the State, and the first outside of the Perth metro area.
The brothers said bringing this quality of entertainment to the South West is something of which they are personally proud.
“We have a long-standing relationship with the South West because we were lucky enough to spend time down there as kids. So we’re really proud to be bringing it to the South West,” Mr Keenan said.
The duo said they wanted to make sure the venue is for everyone, not just golf fans.
“It’s an avenue for people who have no history of golf, or are looking for something to do on a wet day or a hot, uncomfortable day.
“They can come in and play on a golf course, but at the same time we have a full-service bar and a whole range of food items that people can engage with as well.”
