Community groups are in line to receive grants from Southern Ports across the South West, Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance regions.

$72,000 will be going the way of 32 community groups in this round of the Community Investment Program.

Southern Ports chief executive officer Keith Wilks said he was happy to have support going to groups in the regions.

“We’re proud to support a diverse range of local community groups and events across the three regions we live and work in,” said Mr Wilks.

“The benefits that these projects will have on our regional communities are tangible and long lasting.”

In the last round, funding went to sport teams like the Australind Junior Soccer Club, Bunbury Water Polo Association and Collie BMX Club.

Money also went to City of Bunbury events like this year’s Christmas in the City and the 2024 Skyfest.

Another recipient was the Ludlow Tuart Forest Restoration Group which got a new defibrillator.

According to Ludlow Tuart Forest Restoration Group president Holger Topp, the grant made a big difference.

“It’s a huge relief for us to have a new defibrillator unit which is an important part of ensuring our volunteers and visitors are safe,” Mr Topp said.

Applications for the next round of Southern Ports’ Community Investment Program are open until November 15 and can be made at www.southernports.com.au/corporate/community-investment-program.
