Roll out continues for City of Bunbury’s Smart Parking solution, with 70% of in-ground sensors installed

The City of Bunbury’s Smart Parking solution continues to be rolled out, with more than two-thirds of sensors set to replace parking meters now installed. Meters across the CBD have been replaced with the City’s new in-ground sensors, with parking tickets set to be no longer required for drivers in Bunbury in coming months. About 70 per cent of sensors have been installed, and the City said once the system was live, visitors simply could park their car and walk to their destination before returning within the allocated time. In March, Bunbury mayor Jaysen Miguel said the innovative new system would make life easier for CBD visitors. “The City’s new smart parking solution will make it more convenient than ever to park in Bunbury and I’m excited for this project to be rolled out,” he said. “It’s important that time limits remain in place to encourage that churn of vehicles and to ultimately support local businesses and make parking available to more visitors. “The City’s community information and parking officers will be on hand to inform and educate those coming to park in our CBD and surrounding areas and they are committed to helping visitors. “The roll-out of our new smart parking solution will be a staged process, allowing our community to ease into this innovative way to park and for City staff to inform and educate our community.” The City said for those who wanted to park for longer than the allotted times, there was a number of carparks which offer free, all-day parking.
