Seniors Minister and Bunbury MLA Don Punch celebrate 30,000 claims milestone for security rebates program

A program to help seniors remain safe and secure in their own homes has reached a major milestone, with 30,000 people benefiting from it. The State Government’s safety and security rebate program allows WA Seniors Card holders to claim up to $400 for the purchase and installation of home security, electrical or fire safety items. The 30,000 claims milestone comes three years after the scheme was launched in August 2021. Home alarms, CCTV systems, security screens, video doorbells, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are some of the items which can be rebated, alongside licensed installation and repair work for the items. Seniors Minister Don Punch met Bunbury residents Dennis and Taya McAtee to celebrate the milestone. The couple recently claimed the rebate to put a security screen on their backdoor. Mr Punch said the rebate was an important program to give older members of the community a helping hand to improve their home security. “I encourage all eligible WA seniors to make use of the rebate to protect themselves and give their loved ones peace of mind,” he said.
