Shire of Dardanup receives nearly $125,000 from State Government for upgrades to Eaton Recreation Centre

One of the region’s largest sporting hubs has received a boost for planned upgrades. The Shire of Dardanup officially accepted $124,866 from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for the Eaton Recreation Centre at its meeting late last month. Funding received from the Department’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund will be used by the council for second stage of upgrades to the 20-year-old facility. Shire president Tyrrell Gardiner said the grant would boost renovations at the centre. “The changing rooms and toilets are getting a bit old and tired, so it’ll give it a bit more than a lick of paint, which will be good,” he said. The council had already committed $300,000 towards refurbishments, which will follow on from work completed at the centre in July 2022. The successful grant was the third application the Shire of Dardanup made for funding to upgrade the facility.
