South West Refuge receives $156,900 through State Government’s criminal property confiscation grants program

A Bunbury-based organisation helping vulnerable community members has received a much-needed boost. South West Refuge Inc. will receive $156,000 in funding from the State Government’s criminal property confiscation grants program which distributes seized proceeds of crime back into the community. The organisation is slated to use the grants to provide drug and alcohol counselling for those who have experienced family and domestic violence. It will also provide guidance for financial support applications and skills training using the funding. South West Refuge was one of 13 organisations to receive grants in the latest funding round. Attorney General John Quigley said he was pleased to be seeing the money redirected to benefit the community. “It’s only right that seized criminal assets should fund programs which prevent and reduce the harmful effects of crime,” he said. “These grants also give grassroots organisations across WA added resources to help improve their communities through strategic and targeted programs.”
