Souwest Jets’ open side produced one of their best performances of the season in a 10-goal loss to Southside Demons at Gold Netball Centre on Wednesday. Behind by seven goals at half-time, the Jets stormed into a four-goal lead at the final break on the back of a brilliant third term where they scored 17 goals and restricted the Demons to only six. But the Demons recovered by producing a dominant 20-6 effort in the last term to secure a 53-43 victory. Despite the loss, the showing was a sharp improvement on a 38-goal defeat suffered at the hands of the same opponent, who sit second on the ladder with a 9-2 win-loss record, in round two. Rylee Hall took on the bulk of the offensive load on the night, with the shooter contributing 36 of the Jets’ goals. The Jets’ under-21 side suffered a 22-goal loss to the Demons but had more joy against Fremantle Sharks at Eaton Recreation Centre on Sunday, winning by 17 goals. Another 39 goals from standout shooter Lily Knight helped the Jets to a 60-43 victory, their third of the season which broke a run of four consecutive losses. The Jets’ open side will take on the Sharks as part of the West Australian Netball League’s First Nations Round at the Netball Centre at 6pm on Wednesday with the game to be shown live on Streamer.
