The Souwest Jets open side have endured a difficult start to their WA Netball League campaign, going down to the West Coast Warriors by 29 goals in their season opener at Eaton Recreation Centre on Sunday.

A slow start saw the Jets trail 18-8 at quarter-time and they struggled to keep up with their opponents from there, with the visitors running out 63-34 winners.

Rylee Hall was a bright spot in the defeat with 18 goals on club debut, while Kate Kimberley (seven goals), Bianca Grickage (six) and Brooke Gibson (three) all chipped in.

In the matinee fixture, the under-21 Jets lost to the Warriors by three goals.

A 14-9 third quarter from the Jets closed the Warriors’ lead to only two goals at the final break, but the visitors did enough to hold on for a 48-45 victory.

The U19 futures side had a more positive weekend, heading to Perth and beating the Hamersley Comets 46-35 to improve to 2-1 for the season.
