A family-owned and operated transport business recently won the national Woolworths Small Carrier of the Year Award for 2019.

Since 2002, owners of South West Express Mark and Andrea Mazza have developed a great working relationship with Woolworth’s Perth Regional Distribution Centre.

Looking at the wall covered in awards at the South West Express reception, Mr Mazza said this particular award was the company’s greatest achievement yet.

“It just puts the icing on the cake for 26 years of hard work we have endured,” he said.

“To think that when I started this business it was just myself and the one truck we owned and to see how far my wife and I have come, we could not be more honoured.”

Mr Mazza said the company prides itself on safety.

“Safety and compliance is extremely important and is a unique part of our business.”

“We operate on public roads so we have to take safety extremely seriously and ensure we don’t put our drivers or others at risk. Having worked in the industry for a long period I have learnt a lot about hygiene and safety and have made it my priority that South West Express are on top of it.”

The Carrier of the Year awards reward outstanding performance in safety, compliance and service.
