Mountain biker extraordinaire Angus Nichols — the Busselton Freight Services rising sports star for May — was the WA Gravity Enduro Series winner for the past two years and said he was a good chance for this year too.

The 13-year-old said he loved travelling to lots of different events to ride with friends and explore new tracks.

“I’m currently going to WA Gravity Enduro Series, so I’m working on my endurance like riding faster for longer and improving my fitness,” Angus, pictured, said.

Last year, Angus won the WA Gravity Enduro State Championships and the under-13 men at the National Gravity Enduro Championships in Tasmania.

During COVID-19, the Dunsborough athlete was very lucky as he was able to use mountain-bike tracks and train in the same way he did before the pandemic.

“I was still riding from home and training; everyone was still up there riding. It was pretty good. It was almost like the only thing you could actually do,” he said.

The youngster hoped to represent WA at the Gravity Enduro nationals for 2021 but for now was focused on getting fitter and building his endurance.
